these are the lyrics that stand out to me from one of her songs/poems:
"So stand erect and proud, cuz this dick's fighting the good fight for cunt pride"

Re: lyrics
Sat, February 5, 2005 - 11:54 AMHa, very nice, I think I heard that once before. Is it on the same song as the quote I put up? What song would that be?
As a straight, poly, feminist guy I interpret the quote I put up as being written/spoken from an imagined biomale. I just imagine the speaker has a flesh dick. Not that dildos aren't great for a woman's pleasure, but dicks have nerve endings! :) -

Sat, February 5, 2005 - 4:55 PMUm, are we talking about the same Alix Olson dear? Do you even know who she is? Flesh dick? Nerve endings? Perhaps you should do some more research on her and who she is. -

Re: lyrics
Fri, February 11, 2005 - 5:30 PMYeah I know a bit about Alix Olsen. I figured she was taking a step out of "first person" narrative. A lesbian friend of mine pointed out those lines to me. Sure there are several ways to interpret any poetry, but my evidence is this: toys don't vary in condition between erect and flaccid.
However to respond, I would love if you would link to more information, I've been Alix-starved lately.

Eh while it's not one of my favorite of Alix's poemss, I'd have to say as a lesbian I totally disagree with you. I don't think she was comming from that veiw at all. However that's just my 2 cents.

Eh actually the real quote is....
Proclaim the Emancipation of all Cunts--
and tell Dicks this:
You’re being drafted for the Big Solution:
Stand Erect, Be Proud,
You’re part of the Cunt Revolution!
Defending our slick, silky, vaginal turf
For all cunted creatures, created or by birth.
And they’d wear buttons with fists raised, that say:
Patriarchy! I survived! Now this Dick’s fighting the Good Fight for
Vaginal Pride!

Re: lyrics
Tue, June 20, 2006 - 6:25 PMHi, I just joined to respond to this, I remember being inspired and overjoyed the first time I heard this particular poem and at the time it seemed like she was speaking with poetic license using "Dick" as slang for male and penised, but not at all derogatorily (sp?) in the same way that Cunt or Pussy have been similarly reclaimed by queer-conscious folks.
